Much of his work considers the experience of loss and how it serves as a catalyst for regeneration. He received a 2018 Guggenheim Fellowship, which resulted in his book, From Where Loss Comes.”

After Bayard | Alyssa Minahan
“Penumbra Foundation is pleased to present After Bayard, by Alyssa Minahan, 2021 Penumbra Workspace Artist in Residence.”
‘During my month-long residency at Penumbra, I focused on Bayard’s direct positive process and created a book that is a conversation with his Album d’Essai. Bayard never fully documented the formula for his process, so although there is a general understanding of his methodology, there is still space for experimentation.’
